Wineries Benanti

At the end of the 19th century Giuseppe Benanti, grandfather of the current owner of the company, started the production of wines in an ancient farm on the slopes of Etna, in Viagrande, in the province of Catania. In 1988, his nephew will take back what can be considered an ancient family passion, giving life to one of the most famous and celebrated wineries in Sicily and throughout Italy.
A winemaking reality that in these thirty years has been a real point of reference and driving force, not only for what is today defined as the "Etna miracle", but also for all regional oenology.
Giuseppe Benanti's wines, now flanked by his sons, are characterized by a strong personality, capable of transmitting all the Benanti family's culture and passion for wine. Unique bottles, absolute reference for the respective denominations, starting - of course - from Etna and its most representative vines: the carricante and the nerello mascalese. The surface of the owned vineyards reaches over 14 hectares. Among the rows, we also find other varieties, both native and international, such as nerello cappuccio, nero d'Avola, cabernet sauvignon, chardonnay, syrah, tannat and petit verdot. Plants that reach the age of 130, which produce rich, concentrated and structured grapes in all their organoleptic nuances. Bunches that in the cellar are transformed into exceptional wines, from the Rossi to the Bianchi, passing through the Spumanti, able to tell the best essence of what is the territory of the great Sicilian volcano.
