Capofaro, the island “Dimora” of Relais & Châteaux, rises out of the Tasca d’Almerita family’s love for vineyards and for the sea. A beautiful estate on Salina, designed for friends, guests, and travelers of taste in search of the best Mediterranean hospitality. Surrounded by rows of Malvasia delle Lipari overlooking the sea, Capofaro is ideal for those seeking relaxation, wellness and full-immersion in the world of wine. In 2018, the property’s Lighthouse was subject to an important restoration and today boasts 6 spectacular rooms and suites. Capofaro is nature, volcano, land and sea: a place capable of soliciting all of the senses. The particular combination of smells, flavors, views, and an elegant sense of adventure make it impossible not to come back.
Rooms & Suites


Twenty-seven rooms in total, each unique yet all with their own private terrace with a sea or garden view. The rooms are reigned over by the historic Anfiteatro vineyard, with its striking colours, seasonal changes and thrilling energy.
The rooms, of which there are six different types, are all of the minimal Aeolian architectural design; suite 21 is found at the highest point of the estate, with spectacular views it is the only suite equipped with an old working oven that can be used for private dinners.


Chef Gabriele Camiolo

An ambitious chef from the South of Italy, Ludovico De Vivo’s food combines the Tasca d’Almerita passion for good food, rooted in a rich and profound gastronomic history, that brings together lessons of the ‘monsu’ (the chefs of the Sicilian and Neapolitan aristocratic homes) with peasant knowledge from historical Sicilian feudal estates. Inspired by the concept of ‘zero kilometer’ cooking, our local vegetable gardens provide 70% of the produce used in the kitchen. The wheat for the bread* (made with sourdough starter) and pasta is grown in the Tasca family home, Regaleali, as are the olives for the extra virgin olive oil. Waste is reduced to a minimum, and whatever little is left is transformed into compost for the grapevines. *Our bread was voted ‘best bread on the table in Italy’ by the Gambero Rosso Restaurant Guide 2018.
